Doctors of Running, Mid-2021 Financial Report

In an effort to be fully transparent about what we do, we decided to release our first ever financial report at Doctors of Running (DOR). This report will be done biannually to help showcase what we have going on and help us figure out where we are as a team every six months as we continue to grow.

This first financial report is admittedly going to be unique. Some truths about our past six months: after a long hiatus of issues, we only just got our Adsense back up and running around March - April for the website. Adsense makes a large portion of our finances right now. We'll talk more in detail there soon. We also just reached our first 1000 subscribers on YouTube around the end of January, which allowed us to start getting YouTube ad revenue (which also goes through Adsense). Finally, we have started at the very beginning of the year earning affiliate links through Running Warehouse. So in general, despite being around awhile we currently have only started getting any finances back this year.

Saucony Omni 20 Review
By Guest Reviewers Ryan Flugaur and Megan Flynn

The Omni 20 continues to carry over the tradition of being a robust stability shoe in the Saucony lineup. Becoming a model “20” is no easy feat and Saucony has continued to deliver a consistent, highly stable shoe with the Omni 20. As a mostly neutral runner I was a bit nervous to try a stability shoe, however, after putting nearly 50 miles on the shoe, I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It offers a stable ride yet still provides some of that bounce that I typically enjoy thanks to the PWRRUN foam that was introduced in the Omni 19. The shoe has been updated with a new midsole geometry and width. This is a shoe I found to be very comfortable and will likely continue to run in even after the review. This shoe opened my eyes to a type of shoe I didn’t even know I would benefit from.

Adidas Boston 10, white original colorway in hand. Black stripes seen, and topsole of Lightstrike Pro. Red external heel collar.
Adidas Adizero Boston 10 Review
By Chief Founder Matt Klein and Senior Contributor Nathan Brown

The Adidas Adizero Boston series has a long history as a lightweight trainer and marathon racer. Despite Adidas's extensive racing flat history, the Boston was a common choice for those looking to go fast and long in training and racing. Even among elite athletes it was a common choice for those who thought the Adios wasn't enough. While changes were made with upper materials and Boost additions, the spirit has remained similar through the generations. The Adidas Boston 10 is a dramatic change from previous designs, featuring a maximalist design, rods in the midsole and Lightstrike/Lightstrike Pro combination. How this design affects the ride of this long time lightweight trainer is interesting....

New Balance FuelCell RC Elite v2 Review
Review by Matt Klein and David Salas

The original New Balance FuelCell RC Elite was a unique offering among the carbon fiber shoe category when it came out. At the time it was one of the lighter shoes in that group yet was also one of the softest with the FuelCell foam. It also was very unique in that the last was so curved that it worked well as a footwear intervention in my clinical practice for those who supinated too much and had trouble pivoting off their first toe. This made the RC Elite a niche shoe for certain people but one that did not work for others. The New Balance FuelCell RC Elite v2 debuts with a much more centered ride, but one that is far more cushioned and softer. With more stack height and a centered ride, the FuelCell RC Elite v2 competes directly with the Nike Alphafly as a super cushioned long distance racing shoe.

Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 Lateral view. Mild checker pattern through shoe with surrounding white. Large PWWRUN PB midsole seen with blue streaking across. Shoe is on a track

Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 Review

Written by Chief Editor Matt Klein, Senior Contributor's Nathan Brown and David Salas

Saucony continues upon the big success of the original Endorphin Speed with a stellar upper update in the Endorphin Speed 2. The lockdown is improved throughout and the heel security is greatly improved. The shoe rides more fluid through its transition points and also feels a tad more versatile at both easy and faster paces because of this update.

Saucony Endorphin Pro 2 Review
Written by Chief Founder Matt Klein and Contributor Nathan Brown

The Saucony Endorphin Pro is one of only two carbon plate shoes out on the market with peer reviewed literature behind them. Jared Ward participated in a study that looked at what the optimal plate and sole stiffness was for each person. Fun fact: it varies depending on the person. The original Endorphin Pro was also one of the first shoes outside of the Nike Vaporfly to use a Peba foam and carbon plate combination. It differed though in that it was more of a roller than a bouncer. The introduction of the Speed Roll made the shoe incredibly smooth and a great, efficient choice for 10k to marathon racing. The Saucony Endorphin Pro 2 returns with some subtle upper updates. The security of the upper has improved without sacrificing that lightweight feel that many people love. Continuing to be a shoe that rolls along, those that like an efficient ride will continue to be pleased.
