Physical Therapists Using Clinical Analysis To Discuss The Art And Science Behind Running and The Stuff We Put On Our Feet

The use of maximalist shoes for recovery is a common understandable thought process and logical conclusion.  However, reviewing the current evidence, one must realize that the use of maximal shoes for recovery will only apply to a certain subset of runners.  While conventional wisdom would suggest that maximal shoes would provide additional cushioning, protection and allow for muscle recovery while maintaining mileage, that does not appear to be supported by the literature.  The literature is still evolving on the subject (most evidence has surface in the last few years) but what is out there has not supported what people think maximal shoes do.

Skechers GOmeb Speed 6 Hyper Initial Review

The GOmeb Speed line has been my go to racers for some time.  From the versatility of version 3 to the speed of version 5.  The Skechers GOmeb Speed 6 Hyper was released quietly as a complete revision of the shoe and was a surprise to many.  The performance and improvements are no surprise.  Highlights include a snugger upper, an increase in cushioning, lighter weight and the ever amazing HYPER BURST cushioning.  Best described as a cushioned track spike for the road, you will want to try this shoe, but make sure you check the sizing (see below).

Karhu Fusion Ortix 2020 Multiple Tester Review

Karhu is currently updating their entire line of running shoes with new uppers and complete reshaping of the shoes based on FIT ID measures from Fleet Feet stores. For the Fusion 2020, this meant slimming the heel, decreasing the volume of the toe box, and putting in the ortix insole in order to fit the "typical foot" based on these 100,000+ foot scans. We also reviewed the new Ikoni Ortix this year (and loved it), and that review has a lot of details regarding Karhu as a company as well as the research they have been conducting in conjunction with Fleet Feet. You can check out that review HERE. Does the Fusion 2020 live up to the hype that the Ikoni delivered? Read on to see what we thought.
